Administered by CFA Institute, the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) Program is a graduate-level, self-study curriculum and examination program for investment specialists.

While the CFA Program is at the graduate level, CFA Society Emirates believes that financial literacy starts at an early age and supports the efforts of organizations in the UAE that promote financial literacy for the youth.

Rachel Pether, a member of the CFA Society Emirates, wrote an article in the Gulf News on August 6, 2017 that stated:

“Typically, those with the greatest confidence in their financial literacy have been educated since childhood: 66 per cent of those who received structured financial education before the age of 18 were confident in their grasp of investment matters. This figure drops to 41 per cent among those who receive financial education in their 30s. By bringing children into conversations about money and wealth at an early age, they are better positioned to make informed decisions to build, preserve and grow their wealth across the generations.”

Esref Sah

The Esref Sah program intends to build a national program that addresses challenges facing young people in relation to managing their personal finances and notably, debt. Research has shown that young people around the world and particularly in the UAE, often struggle to manage the wide array of sources of debt and often do not have sufficient Esref Sah to manage their future asset base.

“Esref Sah has emerged as an increasingly important issue notably in light of the global recession where managing debt effectively emerged as a very salient subject. We want to be able to help young people in the UAE learn how to avoid excessive debt and manage their finances such that they can provide for themselves and their loved ones throughout their life time.” HE Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon. Managing Director, Emirates Foundation.
