About the Speaker
Abdul Kadir Hussain, CFA is the Managing Director of Fixed Income Asset Management at Arqaam Capital.
He has more than 25 years of investment experience in the emerging markets space, with a 10-year public track record in managing conventional Fixed Income credit-based funds and a 6-year public track record managing Shari’ah-compliant fixed income credit funds. In addition to the public funds, Mr. Hussain has run a conventional credit-based total return proprietary strategy for Mashreq Bank and has managed global credit, distressed and special situation investments in Asia, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. Mr. Hussain grew Mashreq’s Assets under Management (“AUM”) for the asset management business from US$ 350 million in 2012 to US$ 1.6 billion in 2016. Prior to Mashreq, he was a Managing Director at Credit Suisse.
Mr. Hussain has a Bachelor of Science in Economics, with a concentration in Finance and Decision Science from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurial Studies from the Andersen School at UCLA. He has been a CFA Charter-holder since 1995.
About the Moderator
Binod Shankar, CFA has 27 years of experience as a banker, auditor, finance director, entrepreneur and financial trainer. He now spends his time as a keynote speaker, columnist, blogger, podcaster of the real finance mentor podcast, and as an active volunteer on the Board of the CFA Society Emirates, where he is the Career Services Chair. Binod is a Chartered Accountant, a CFA charterholder and holds a Level 7 qualification from the Institute of Leadership and Management in Coaching and Mentoring.
